Francisco Javier Morera Galleguillos

Soy bioquímico de la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile y doctor en biología celular y molecular de la Universidad Austral de Chile. Realicé estudios de postdoctorado en el Centro Interdisciplinario de Neurociencia de Valparaíso de la Universidad de Valparaíso y en la Universidad de California, Los Angeles, Estados Unidos. Durante 12 años, me desempeñé como profesor dentro del Instituto de Farmacología y Morfofisiología, en la Facultad de Ciencias Veterinarias de la Universidad Austral de Chile y, actualmente, soy el profesor responsable del curso de Farmacología y Toxicología en la Escuela de Medicina Veterinaria UC. Durante mi carrera académica siempre he estado interesado tanto en la docencia como en la investigación, siendo mi especialidad el estudio de la adaptación al agua salada de salmones, lo cual me ha permitido trabajar junto a fisiólogos y endocrinólogos de peces. En esta nueva etapa en la UC, mi objetivo es desarrollar investigaciones colaborativas dentro de diferentes áreas científicas de la fisiología de salmones (como osmorregulación y adaptación al agua salada, respuesta a agentes patógenos y estudios en modelos celulares) además de la búsqueda de aplicaciones biotecnológicas a bacterias antárticas.
