Concurso para investigadores (as) en etapa inicial de carrera

SENTINET (Surveillance, Epidemiology, and New Technologies for Infectious Emerging Threats) es un centro de investigación financiado por la Agencia Nacional de Investigación y Desarrollo de Chile (ANID) a través del programa Centros de Investigación y Desarrollo de Excelencia de Interés Nacional (CIN).

El centro SENTINET busca reclutar investigadores (as) en etapa inicial de carrera para integrarse a uno o más núcleos de investigación de este organismo y desarrollar programas de investigación independientes y colaborativos alineados con la visión de este centro que reúne investigadores de la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (UC, institución anfitriona), Universidad del Desarrollo (UDD, institución anfitriona), Universidad Andrés Bello (UNAB), Universidad Austral de Chile (UACh) y Universidad Mayor (UM), en colaboración con el Instituto de Salud Pública de Chile (ISP) y otras instituciones gubernamentales, incluyendo el Servicio Agrícola y Ganadero (SAG) y el Ministerio de Salud (MINSAL).

La visión de SENTINET es convertirse en una plataforma científica rigurosa y orientada a políticas públicas, donde sistemas avanzados de vigilancia integrada, diagnósticos basados en genómica y análisis de datos en tiempo real transformen la forma en que se detectan, contienen, tratan y previenen las amenazas y efectos de enfermedades infecciosas en individuos y comunidades.

DESCRIPCIÓN DEL CARGO

El centro busca reclutar científicos/as en etapa inicial de carrera (investigadores/as jóvenes) para integrarse a uno o más núcleos de investigación de SENTINET y desarrollar programas de investigación independientes y colaborativos alineados con la visión del centro.

Se espera que:

Desarrollen y lideren un programa de investigación independiente dentro del marco SENTINET.
Contribuyan a la agenda interdisciplinaria del centro.
Supervisen estudiantes de postgrado e investigadores postdoctorales.
Participen activamente en la red de vigilancia, talleres y simposios anuales.
Contribuyan a publicaciones científicas de alto impacto y postulaciones a fondos.
Apoyen la comunicación social (prensa y redes sociales).

REQUISITOS

Poseer un grado de doctor (PhD o equivalente) en una disciplina pertinente. El grado debe haber sido obtenido hace no más de 8 años al cierre de la convocatoria.
Demostrar productividad científica acorde con la etapa de carrera.
Tener intereses alineados con al menos uno de los Núcleos de Investigación SENTINET.
Establecer afiliación formal con una institución patrocinadora o asociada en Chile y residir en Chile durante el nombramiento.
Inglés avanzado; español nivel B2 o superior altamente deseable.
Competencias de investigación según el núcleo seleccionado.
Disponibilidad de dedicación completa y residencia en Chile.

Sueldo bruto mensual de $3.000.000 CLP.
Contrato a plazo fijo por cinco años con evaluación anual.

RESPONSABILIDADES

Dedicar al menos 80% del tiempo laboral a actividades de SENTINET.
Postular a fondos nacionales e internacionales.
Liderar o co-liderar proyectos.
Publicar en promedio dos artículos por año.
Participar en vigilancia, recolección de datos y procesamiento de muestras.
Supervisar a estudiantes de magíster, doctorado y postdoctorado.
Presentar informes de avance según ANID.

RESTRICCIONES

No mantener simultáneamente otro cargo de tiempo completo.
Financiamiento sujeto a evaluaciones de ANID.
Cumplir normas de propiedad intelectual, ética y reportes financieros.
No haber ocupado un cargo equivalente en otro centro ANID previamente.

Productividad científica: 20%
Calidad y originalidad de propuesta: 30%
Alineación con SENTINET: 25%
Potencial independiente y colaborativo: 20%
Cartas de recomendación: 5%

Call for early career scientists

SENTINET (Surveillance, Epidemiology, and New Technologies for Infectious Emerging Threats) is a research center funded by the Chilean National Research and Development Agency (ANID) through the Centers of Excellence in Research and Development of National Interest (CIN) program.

SENTINET brings together researchers from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile (UC, host institution), University of Development (UDD, host institution), Andrés Bello University (UNAB), Austral University of Chile (UACh), and Universidad Mayor (UM), in collaboration with the Public Health Institute of Chile (ISP) and other government institutions, including the Agricultural and Livestock Service (SAG) and the Ministry of Health (MINSAL).

SENTINET’s vision is to become a rigorous, policy-oriented scientific platform where advanced integrated surveillance systems, genomics-based diagnostics, and real-time data analysis transform how the threats and effects of infectious diseases are detected, contained, treated, and prevented in individuals and communities.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The center seeks to recruit early-career scientists (junior researchers) to join one or more SENTINET research groups and develop independent and collaborative research programs aligned with the center’s vision.

The expected responsibilities include:

Developing and leading an independent research program within the SENTINET framework.
Contributing to the center’s interdisciplinary agenda.
Supervising graduate students and postdoctoral researchers.
Actively participating in the monitoring network, workshops, and annual symposia.
Contributing to high-impact scientific publications and funding applications.
Supporting public relations (press and social media).

2. REQUIREMENTS
Hold a doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) in a relevant discipline. The degree must have been obtained no more than 8 years prior to the application deadline.
Demonstrate scientific productivity commensurate with the applicant’s career stage.

Have research interests aligned with at least one of the SENTINET Research Centers.
Establish a formal affiliation with a sponsoring or partner institution in Chile and reside in Chile during the appointment.
Advanced English; Spanish level B2 or higher highly desirable.
Research skills according to the selected center.
Full-time availability and residency in Chile.

3. BENEFITS

Gross monthly salary of CLP $3,000,000.
Fixed-term contract for five years with annual evaluation.

5. RESPONSIBILITIES

Dedicate at least 80% of work time to SENTINET activities.
Apply for national and international funding.
Lead or co-lead projects.
Publish an average of two articles per year.
Participate in monitoring, data collection, and sample processing.
Supervise master’s, doctoral, and postdoctoral students.
Submit progress reports as per ANID requirements.

6. RESTRICTIONS

Do not hold another full-time position simultaneously.
Funding is subject to ANID evaluations.
Comply with intellectual property, ethics, and financial reporting regulations. Not having previously held an equivalent position at another ANID center.
