SENTINET (Surveillance, Epidemiology, and New Technologies for Infectious Emerging Threats) es un centro de investigación financiado por la Agencia Nacional de Investigación y Desarrollo de Chile (ANID) a través del programa Centros de Investigación y Desarrollo de Excelencia de Interés Nacional (CIN).
El centro SENTINET busca reclutar investigadores (as) postdoctorales para integrarse a uno o más núcleos de investigación de este organismo que, bajo la supervisión de un (a) investigador (a) senior trabajen en uno o más Núcleos de Investigación de este centro que reúne investigadores de la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (UC, institución anfitriona), Universidad del Desarrollo (UDD, institución anfitriona), Universidad Andrés Bello (UNAB), Universidad Austral de Chile (UACh) y Universidad Mayor (UM), en colaboración con el Instituto de Salud Pública de Chile (ISP) y otras instituciones gubernamentales, incluyendo el Servicio Agrícola y Ganadero (SAG) y el Ministerio de Salud (MINSAL).
El centro está organizado en torno a tres Áreas de Investigación: (RA1) infecciones emergentes y reemergentes con potencial pandémico, (RA2) estrategias de control para LA prevención, diagnóstico y terapia, y (RA3) preparación y respuesta ante emergencias, apoyadas por siete Núcleos de Investigación interdisciplinarios (RC1–RC7).
La visión de SENTINET es convertirse en una plataforma científica rigurosa y orientada a políticas públicas, donde sistemas avanzados de vigilancia integrada, diagnósticos basados en genómica y análisis de datos en tiempo real transformen la forma en que se detectan, contienen, tratan y previenen las amenazas y efectos de enfermedades infecciosas en individuos y comunidades.
1. DESCRIPCIÓN DEL CARGO
El centro busca reclutar Investigadores/as Postdoctorales que trabajen en uno o más Núcleos de Investigación de SENTINET bajo la supervisión de un(a) investigador(a) senior.
Se espera que los/as Investigadores/as Postdoctorales:
- Diseñen, lideren y ejecuten una agenda de investigación coherente con objetivos, hitos y productos definidos, alineada con los objetivos del/los núcleo(s) asignado(s) y la misión general del centro.
- Construyan una línea de investigación independiente.
- Lideren publicaciones científicas de alto impacto y presentaciones en congresos.
- Participen activamente en la agenda colaborativa del centro, red de vigilancia e iniciativas inter-núcleo.
- Codirijan y orienten estudiantes de pregrado y postgrado.
- Desarrollen propuestas competitivas de financiamiento como IP o coinvestigador/a, incluyendo postulaciones ANID.
- Participen en programas de formación, talleres y simposios anuales de SENTINET.
2. REQUISITOS
- Poseer grado de doctor/a (PhD o equivalente) en una disciplina relevante al núcleo seleccionado. El grado debe haber sido obtenido hace no más de tres años al cierre de la convocatoria, con extensiones por interrupciones justificadas.
- Demostrar productividad científica acorde a la etapa de carrera.
- Tener intereses y experiencia alineados con al menos uno de los Núcleos RC1–RC7.
- Disponibilidad de dedicación completa y residencia en Chile.
- Inglés obligatorio; español deseable (nivel B2 o superior).
- Se aceptan postulantes de todas las nacionalidades y trayectorias.
3. BENEFICIOS
- Estipendio mensual competitivo según el estándar ANID ($2.690.000 CLP).
- Duración inicial de dos años, renovable hasta tres años según desempeño y financiamiento.
- Acceso a presupuesto de investigación para insumos, equipamiento, trabajo de campo, viajes, publicaciones y colaboración.
- Mentoría de investigadores/as senior y apoyo al desarrollo de carrera.

5. RESPONSABILIDADES DEL CARGO
- Dedicación del 100% a actividades de investigación de SENTINET.
- Postular anualmente a fondos postdoctorales como ANID.
- Liderar o coliderar postulaciones a fondos competitivos.
- Ejecutar el plan de investigación aprobado.
- Publicar resultados en revistas científicas revisadas por pares.
- Participar en actividades de vigilancia, recolección y procesamiento de muestras.
- Codiseñar documentos de política pública y materiales de comunicación.
- Supervisar estudiantes y participar en reuniones, talleres y actividades de difusión.
6. RESTRICCIONES
- No mantener simultáneamente otro cargo remunerado en universidad o centro de investigación.
- El financiamiento depende de ANID y del desempeño del centro.
- Cumplir normativas de propiedad intelectual, ética y reportabilidad financiera.
- No recibir simultáneamente otra beca postdoctoral ANID incompatible.

- Calidad y factibilidad de la propuesta: 30%
- Alineación con prioridades del núcleo y misión SENTINET: 20%
- Expertise metodológica y técnica: 15%
- Cartas de recomendación: 10%
Las personas preseleccionadas serán entrevistadas y presentarán su propuesta (15 minutos).

Call for postdoctoral researchers
SENTINET (Surveillance, Epidemiology, and New Technologies for Infectious Emerging Threats) is a research center funded by Chile’s National Research and Development Agency (ANID) through the Centers for Research and Development of National Interest (CIN) program.
SENTINET seeks to recruit postdoctoral researchers to join one or more of its research cores, working under the supervision of a senior researcher. The center brings together researchers from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (UC, host institution), Universidad del Desarrollo (UDD, host institution), Universidad Andrés Bello (UNAB), Universidad Austral de Chile (UACh), and Universidad Mayor (UM), in collaboration with the Chilean Public Health Institute (ISP) and other government institutions, including the Agricultural and Livestock Service (SAG) and the Ministry of Health (MINSAL).
The center is organized around three Research Areas: (RA1) emerging and re-emerging infections with pandemic potential, (RA2) control strategies for prevention, diagnosis, and therapy, and (RA3) emergency preparedness and response, supported by seven interdisciplinary Research Cores (RC1–RC7).
SENTINET’s vision is to become a rigorous, policy-oriented scientific platform where advanced integrated surveillance systems, genomics-based diagnostics, and real-time data analysis transform how infectious disease threats and their effects on individuals and communities are detected, contained, treated, and prevented.
1. JOB DESCRIPTION
The center seeks to recruit Postdoctoral Researchers to work in one or more SENTINET Research Cores under the supervision of a senior researcher.
Postdoctoral Researchers are expected to:
- Design, lead, and execute a research agenda consistent with defined objectives, milestones, and outputs, aligned with the assigned core(s) and the center’s overall mission.
- Build an independent research line.
- Lead high-impact scientific publications and conference presentations.
- Actively participate in the center’s collaborative agenda, surveillance network, and inter-core initiatives.
- Co-supervise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
- Develop competitive funding proposals as PI or co-investigator, including ANID applications.
- Participate in SENTINET training programs, workshops, and annual symposia.
2. REQUIREMENTS
- Hold a doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) in a discipline relevant to the selected core. The degree must have been obtained no more than three years before the application deadline, with extensions for justified interruptions.
- Demonstrate scientific productivity appropriate to career stage.
- Have interests and experience aligned with at least one of the Research Cores RC1–RC7.
- Full-time availability and residency in Chile.
- English is mandatory; Spanish is desirable (B2 level or higher).
- Applicants of all nationalities and backgrounds are welcome.
3. BENEFITS

5. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- 100% dedication to SENTINET research activities.
- Annual applications to postdoctoral funding sources such as ANID.
- Lead or co-lead competitive funding applications.
- Execute the approved research plan.
- Publish results in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
- Participate in surveillance activities, sample collection, and processing.
- Co-design public policy documents and communication materials.
- Supervise students and participate in meetings, workshops, and outreach activities.
6. RESTRICTIONS
- May not simultaneously hold another paid position at a university or research center.
- Funding is contingent on ANID support and center performance.
- Must comply with regulations on intellectual property, ethics, and financial reporting.
- May not simultaneously hold another incompatible ANID postdoctoral fellowship.
